Theresa from the UCA had a discussion with Eric from Nesters on their plans during Covid.
Nesters is not planning to close, they are an essential service and will remain open.
Q: Do you anticipate having an online ordering options? There is desire from volunteers to perhaps deliver groceries to folks who in quarantine or compromised (going through chemo etc.), but worry about figuring out payment.
A: I have been trying to get delivery service but we don’t have the capability. We can do delivery Orders by phone or email. Customers can pay with credit card by phone.
Q: How can we best support you? Is there too much demand and should we be shopping elsewhere to take off the pressure?
A: Demand will ease and we should be back to normal stock levels next week. Produce might take longer. Definitely do not shop elsewhere. I hired a few employees from Club Ilia to help out.
Q: Is there anything you want to community to know that we can broadcast to get the word out for you?
A: Don’t panic buy.
We should be back to normal by next week with the exception of sanitizer, rubbing alcohol, sanitizer cloths (Lysol/ Clorox), some brands of toilet paper as demand is still very high
Core vegetables - carrots, onions, potatoes will have limited selection for the next couple of weeks. Bananas will also be sparse due to high demand.
Obviously, this situation is unprecedented and I have only dealt with something like this once in my career. We are trying our best to get stock but we are being prorated and/or shorted at the moment but we are seeing demand ease and as mentioned, should be back to somewhat normal by next week.
