May 1-7 is Emergency Preparedness week in Canada. If an emergency happens, are you prepared to care for yourself and your family for a minimum of 72 hours? Here in UniverCity there are a number of risks we could be exposed to, including earthquakes, heat emergencies, industrial accidents, and wildfire. Being prepared will diminish the risks and reduce the time it takes to recover should a disaster occur.
Emergency preparedness doesn't have to be complicated. Start small, by knowing the risks, making a plan, and preparing an emergency kit that will allow you to be self-sufficient for 72 hours.
If you already have this in place, gradually build your preparedness from 72 hours to 7 days to 2 weeks.
