If you encounter a bear

Three bears visited UniverCity's residential areas and the high street for over an hour on June 12th. These same bears have been seen around frequently this spring. Two of them are youngsters who are starting to move around without their mother. They're very vulnerable to becoming habituated to humans at this age, which is dangerous for the bears and for people. Please be vigilant about not leaving bear attractants out, keep your dog leashed, and don't stop to watch or take photos of bears as this habituates them to humans. If you see a bear lingering in the residential areas we encourage you to report it the RAPP phone number (below) even if the bear is not behaving aggressively, as this can help the conservation office track whether our neighbourhood is becoming a problem area.
