Invasive plant removal workshop: Aug 14

Join us on Sunday August 14th at 10:00 am for a workshop to learn about some common invasive plants in our neighbourhood and how to remove them.


You will learn to identify and remove invasive species such as small flowered touch-me-not, Himalayan blackberry, tansy, and bindweed. You will also learn some tips for encouraging natural vegetation to return.


We will also work near the elementary school to remove some invasive plants.


RSVP is required for this event, as we will be accepting a maximum of 6 people. Please RSVP by emailing cleamoray@gmail.com

Where: Meet at the NE corner of University High St. and Tower Rd., the corner with the elementary school.


Activity Level: easy to medium - bending is required.


Bring:

  • Your own gardening gloves if you have them. Gloves will also be available to borrow or buy at the workshop.

  • .Your own clippers and weeding tool if you have them. Clippers and tools will also be available to borrow at the workshop.

  • Some of you might want to bring a stool if you have trouble with bending.

  • Please bring water in case you get thirsty.

Wear:

  • Long sleeves and pants are strongly recommended to avoid insects and scratchy plants.

  • Sturdy, comfortable closed toe shoes/boots or rain boots
