This spring the UniverCity Community Association asked for the community's input to shape our priorities and activities. Your responses gave us lots of insight into what residents love about the community, what you'd like to see change, and what you'd like the role of the UCA to be.
There was strong support for the UCA focussing on the following activities:
Advocate for the community
Raise awareness of issues affecting the community
Organize community events
Connect people and build community
Provide information about the community for residents
Improve safety and emergency preparedness
Support community amenities and retail offerings being expanded
We've used this input to guide a lot of our activities this year, such as revising our constitution, developing new ways to communicate with the community, holding a summer BBQ, working with SFU and the City of Burnaby to improve traffic and fire safety, starting a meet-up group and email list for those aged 55+, and bringing new recreation programs to UniverCity.
